Double Face of Northern elders

The Two Deceitful Faces of Northern Elders- We will Drag Gen. Ihejirika (Retired)to War Crime Court! Are Northern Elders the proverbial treacherous and dubious old man that would go into the bush and strike the evil drum, Gbam! Gbam!! Gbamgbamgbam!!! and still come out on the road and ask who is beating that evil drum just now!? Assessing the recent utterances of the Northern Elders one would seriously doubt on whose side the so called Northern Elders were and are right now. Though we may not be too surprised at the recent utterances of some elements in the North, whether it is Northern Elders or perhaps the youth Forum. You could recall that shortly before President Jonathan was elected President of the country for the First time, some Northern elements swore that they would make the nation ungovernable! Many of those Northern groups have not changed their stance till now and is it not likely that it is this same elements that have been and are still powering Boko Haram? Because the way Boko Haram behaves like a child sent to rob by his Dad you don’t need to look far why they act with impunity. Let us recall that apart from the bomb blasts here and there in the country by Boko Haram the main reason the military was called in was that in some North East states Boko Haram elements had seized some local government, e.g. in Borno; over twelve local governments were seized by Boko Haram elements as their enclave and actually hoisted their flag, putting road blocks and practically ejected all police officers in the affected local governments. This can’t be any other thing order than out right rebellion and that was why the military was called in; in the first place to put a check on this and to forestall further spread of such blatant disrespect to laws of the federation. Now it was not only Gen. Ihejirika of the Nigeria Army that planned and executed strategy to stop this stupid show of lawlessness, all other military chiefs were involved, why should the Northern Elders single Gen. Ihejirika out as their prime candidate for delivery to war crime court probably because he is from the South East extraction. But I want to remind the Northern elders that: 1) the war crime court is not a property of the North 2) with this kind of irresponsible statement they are clearly showing that they are deeply behind the activities of Boko Haram, so the rest of Nigerians should hold the Northern elders responsible for thousands of people killed by bombs planted by Boko harm and also for all properties, churches,Mosques, vehicle and private properties destroyed by Boko Haram bombs. If The Northern elders fail to retract the irresponsible threat to the former Chief of Army staff then for all time the rest of Nigerians would hold the Northern elders responsible of those colossal loss of lives and properties occasioned by the activities of the sect, Boko Haram. If this assertion is true it meant also the Northern elders were also guilty of treason for supporting elements of Boko Haram hoisting flags up in some local governments in Borno and should also be arrested for a proper trial! Now the other face of the Northern elders is while probably, remotely supporting Boko Haram for their notorious activities; turn back and accuse the presidency of not able to improve security in the country! At the same time the effort put in to improve the security , they are threatening to take the head of the army that helped to stem the spread of the damages caused by Boko Haram to War crime court! May I also ask the Northern elders if the limited operations of the military in the North East is war. Well it is clear that it is not war because if it is war I don’t think the Northern elders would have time to be talking about it the way they do. In that case since it is not war why should the Northern elders be talking of war crime court? -The display of two deceitful faces. I encourage the Northern elders to show more responsibility and stop their possible support of the dreaded group that is if that is what they are doing and allow peace to return. They probably don’t like the face of Jonathan but the Northern elders must be reminded that Jonathan on his own couldn’t have secured Aso rock by himself. Furthermore the call on Gen Ihejirika may also not only encourage Boke Haram to spil more blood, but also limits the ability of the new army chief and other military chiefs to carry out their tasks to ensure security of lives and properties in the North East in particular and the North in general as well as other parts of the country. If Nigeria is burnt where would be the Northern elders?
