Disarming of Nigeria soldiers by Cameron military who crossed the border of Cameron in pursuit of Boko Haram- APC National embarrassment!

Disarming of Nigeria soldiers by Cameron military who crossed the border of Cameron in pursuit of Boko Haram- APC National embarrassment! One wonders what APC spokesman is talking about. Is he saying that Cameroon should have instead bought bobo juice and tom-tom and shared to the Nigeria solders that mistakenly crossed their border? APC spokesman should understand that; except there is some form of understanding the least Nigeria soldiers should get from Cameroonian forces for border violation is arrest and detention and could only be released if the government of Nigeria apologizes to Cameroon government for violating their boarder since we are not at war with Cameroon. So disarming the soldiers and setting them free is a great mark of respect to Nigeria. A similar incident happened at Ukraine Boarder where Russian soldiers crossed over to Ukraine; of course they were promptly arrested by Ukraine and as I am writing now they are still in the custody of Ukrainian authorities! So I simply don’t know what APC spokesman is talking about. I sincerely doubt that if the APC spokesman is drooped in the forest between Nigeria and Cameroon whether he would know exactly where the line of border demarcation is! I hope APC is not trying to turn it into a subtle political weapon against President Jonathan. Other wise I don’t see why the comment should be necessary. However, if it was meant to be a political weapon, the APC should get busy with more serious issue instead of wasting time on trivialities. Nigeria is in a war and the least expected of APC is unalloyed support to the government it would also demand such support if it were to be in charge of the nation’s affairs!

WAEC Declining Results in Nigeria

WAEC Declining Results in Nigeria There are many reasons many concerned Nigerians have given in response to the continuous poor performance of our children in WAEC examinations despite the improved funding of education by both the federal government and some state governments. Once again many people still finger government inability to invest up to the 26% of the budget as recommended, some also fingered parents nonchalant attitude to their children, a segment also fingered poor teaching methods by the teachers saddled with this responsibility and yet another segment of critique fingered the general assault on education particularly in the North of Nigeria. However, I am yet to hear any one mention the students them selves as a vital part of this problem! Agreed that all mentioned as reason for continuous poor performance in WAEC and other exams in the country have in varying degrees contributed in the poor performance but if you look at it in closer scrutiny you may see that the problem posed by the students them selves may as of now be the most vocal contributor to the challenge we now have at our hands. I have two children now in senior secondary school in fact one of them is about to take same WAEC just seven months or eight months from now but you can’t believe it that the child in question still spend average of eight to ten hours every day excluding times he sleep within the day and night sleeping and doing basic home chores play games on the phone, watching movies, doing internet and its social media links! In fact the only reason he ever stops doing any of those pass times is because I constantly admonish him to go and read his book other wise I am quite sure that he would most probably never remember on his own to take his book and read without coercing! By the time I was at their age in early eighties in my village the things that did distract us most was home chores, radio music not much of TV program since the only station was NTA! To start with there were no home movies like we have now where over three thousands new movies are moved into market every year from Nigeria alone not to mention foreign movies! However, today we have several television stations showing all kinds of programs, movies and new forms of entertainments! We now have pay TVs that would have station show movies from 1.00am to 12 mid night 24/7! To make matters worse the internet is there with al manner of social net works to further make this worse GSM came along too that virtually all the students in secondary school have phone and even some in the primary school have too. In fact in some school where discipline has gone over the board while classes are going on students are either browsing , sending love text messages to one another or playing the numerous games that can easily be downloaded from the internet or even telephone providers! So a typical child day is like this he wakes up in the morning do some house chores, take his bath, eat and go to school if the school is in session. During break period he takes a little time to explore the games in his phone do a little internet chart and social net working. Once school dismisses he starts from school gate to browse the net and play games until he reaches home where he takes his meal and either return to games or glue his eyes to the TV which ever is more appealing and continue so till dinner time and once more return to TV or game till he goes to bed when tired or over powered by sleep! At holiday the only major difference is that instead of going to school all the time is now available for games, internet or television! With all these you can see that the child simply is unable to spare anytime to read especially where the parents are unable to ensure some kind of restrictions. To ensure some kind of restriction is easier said than done to start with. I think personally that experts should have a look at this problem and proffer solution to how we can easily get our children to sit down and read in view of all fun milling around them. I am simply afraid that if some form of solution is not found even if the whole Nigeria budget is allocated to education our children would not fare better than they are doing right now!

One- Man -One -Vote – A legacy Priceless!

One- Man -One -Vote – A legacy Priceless! There are still doubting Thomas’ that are yet to understand President Jonathan’s Transformation agenda as regard the One-Man- One Vote. Ever since the creation of Nigeria, Politicians had continued to short charge the electorates in varying degrees but most glaring in the recent political phase of the country to the very apex that electorates who stand on the long cues to vote for candidates of their choice where merely wasting their valuable time because the ballot boxes would once the results are counted would be high jacked mid way to the collation center at the ward office and swapped with stuffed boxes manipulated by the most powerful party in power in the state. Even that swapped result is further swapped at the other echelon of collation and at the end who ever the party in power wished to be rigged into office would regardless! With this scenario the politicians don’t care a hoot what you feel about how they loot both the federal and states treasuries. It is business who ever that manages to outwit the others into the state house have the unique privilege of looting the treasury most and what is more the next election date he now has more money to pay to tugs to kill competitors and to once more help to snatch stuff and swap ballot boxes! That is the three‘s’ cancer. It is not surprising why all parties I mean all of them indulge in imposition of candidates and internal democracy in parties are scorned as if it is only the timid that gets involved in it!

Northern Elders Forum and its Antics once again!

Northern Elders Forum and its Antics once again! Intelligent people know that it would be almost impossible for the shrew to be washed of its stink no matter how hard one tries so it is hard to wash off the Northern Elders Forum and other reactionary Northern groups of its clandestine attempt to prevent President Jonathan from going for a second term guaranteed him by the nation’s constitution. It is simply continuous change of strategy after strategy. The initial strategy was Boko Haram which the Northern elders forum can never completely disassociate itself from without doubt in the mind of any intelligent person considering what NEF has been saying and doing about the activities of the crazy group; was to create a whole lot of trouble to make the Nigeria state ungovernable and probably because the President were unable to handle the situation he would be forced out of office either by resignation or act of parliamentary impeachment but that quickly failed. The next strategy was to attempt a fragmentation of PDP itself which partially worked but it is obvious that the President has quickly repaired the damage and are even gaining new grounds as we speak! The next move was the abduction of several girls from a school in Chibuk. From day one any body with moderate gray matter in his brain knew that the abduction was at the very best a conspiracy between several reactionary northern elements and a particular opposition political party but that strategy has also ran into murky waters as in no time the interest of the globe has been attracted. Now the latest strategy all aimed at flushing President Jonathan out of Aso Rock are two plunged attack, some members of the North attending the national confer is alleging of course dubiously that President Jonathan is gunning for a third tem even though he is yet to get a second term! The second arm of the strategy playing out simultaneously is same NEF giving a crazy ultimatum to the President that on or before October 2015 he the President must have freed the Chibuk girls if the President would get the support of the Northern Elders Forum! What a dubious malicious ultimatum! It is a simple black mail. If the President should fall stupidly to this black mail, see the scenario that would play out: If the President succeed the Northern elders forum would say that it was because of the plodding by NEF and the presidents inordinate quest to remain in power that forced the president to free the girls! On the order hand if the President’s hasty move to satisfy the ultimatum of the NEF led to the death of most or all the girls the Northern Elders forum would say the president and the Nigeria army are incompetent and that the president killed all those girls because of his quest to remain in power! When you put together the combination of these two plunged strategy you will definitely find it difficult to understand that the Northern elders Forum is sure playing games with President but not a particularly bright game man the Northern elders forum are at best now game masters with limited intelligence. The President should ignore their ineffectual ultimatum and rely solely on the advice of military high command on the issue of Chibuk girls. In any case if the Northern elders forum and perhaps the opposition party are bent on playing expulsion politics against our President; even when and if the Chibuk girls are freed, Boko Haram will sooner or later abduct another sets of girls or women to keep NEF and the opposition party on the game table!

“Militarization” of election by President Jonathan! – APC,

“Militarization” of election by President Jonathan! – APC Isn’t it laughable that the very people that can never do without security operatives following them, their children , wives and relatives in score are now the very apostle that faults President Jonathan’s ingenuous attempt to ensure security of lives and properties during elections!? What is even more ironical is that same people dish to the media heinous hate and inciting utterances that would under certain circumstances force the President to ask the IG to execute immediate arrests! From Gen. Buhari to Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Ogbeni Aregbesola to Lie Mohammed and host of other APC stalwarts all move about happily with a lot of Police, Army and even some DSS men and not only that they also further strengthens their personal security by using convoys and serine to help them have easy and secure passages. I have never heard any of them ever complain of militarization of the country! It is only once in four years that teeming Nigerian electorates come out to vote for candidates of their choice and that is the only time common Nigerians could enjoy the unique services of being protected but not just bodily protected but protection of the rights of the citizens to elect a leader of their choice and some frog heads are saying that is militarization of election! Well it may be understandable while the characters who say such ridiculous thing are saying so. You have not forgotten the common slogan during elections that state governors should ‘deliver’ the states to themselves and finally to their parties! You understand what this so called deliver means, most time it means rigging of election to the favor of themselves and their parties which entail ballot box stuffing and swapping! All this deprive the electorates of enjoying the power of their votes. You recall how whenever elections are conducted within the state the state electoral commission and state government would ensure that all elective positions would go to which ever party that is in power! With this President Jonathan’s ingenious approach such a thing would be a thing of the past! The legacy President Jonathan wants to live is simple, “One man or woman one vote!”. Looking at the matter more broadly, when you consider all that the opposition have been doing and saying as regard the insurgency going on in the North East you cant but suspect that remotely the opposition must be rendering some form of support to the insurgent, the least among this support is moral support! So would you expect the President in considerations of this possibility leave the grounds unguarded and then create room for any thing under high heaven to occur and mind you when the President allows that to happen the same opposition that blames the President of militarization would turn back and accuse him of not managing the security of lives and properties well!
