APC against PDP or the rule of an extract from the minority section of the country, Goodluck Jonathan!? APC claims that PDP and PDP members do not know what they are doing about moving Nigeria forward hat it is only former CAN and CPC and any other party in support of the opposition alliance that knows what they are doing about moving Nigeria forward! Is this the truth? Certainly not it is either APC has decided to conveniently lie or they are just power hungry and are ready to say anything under high heaven to see if they can buy public opinion against the PDP. While I am not holding brief for PDP but I am convinced as well as any right thinking person that while we have for sure good APC governors there are also good PDP governors and in like vain there are bad PDP governors as well as bad APC governors. In any case if this were not true why is APC as it is presently composed half CAN/CPC and half PDP, yet APC continue to shout that they are against PDP. The other fact is that some elements in the North that feel quite aggrieved that Goodluck Jonathan is Nigeria president and of course it is not a secrete that if for any reason President Yardua had survived most unlikely Goodluck Jonathan would never have been president of Nigeria! Those who left PDP for APC are mainly from the North and the real reason they joined APC is to find a way for a northerner to rule the country why I do not see anything wrong in a Northerner ruling , but what is the hurry about ? After all the North had ruled the country for several decades before and the country was not fixed, the few thing that moved all happened mostly when southerners moved into the scene. While I know that there are great Northerners who could turn the country around just like any other Southerner but will this elements as Nigeria is currently composed allowed to ever emerge as the nation’s leader? I doubt The major reason APC wants power at all cost simply not PDP , Some of those Northern elements do not like Jonathan and they want him out at all cost and definitely not to come and move the country forward as APC claims . Most likely when the Northern element gets the power they seek we all will come to the realization that it would be business as usual! Besides what is the APC coming to do, the solution to the Nigeria economy lies in reforms of the agric sector and a total revolution of the agric sector to create much needed employment and reenergize the economy and if you have been following the president closely agric sector has taken a quantum reap from what we know before! The other sector so vital is the power sector the President has done a great job there but recently based on reports milling around a substantial improvement in the power sector is being deliberately sabotaged by some elements either on their own or to garner support to the opposition! If I should advise the President three sectors he should put an eagle eye on are the power installations and distribution as well as petroleum products distributions. There was news that I that in the last one and half weeks there has been destruction in the Ejigbo area distribution end. Once it is fixed some elements blow it up again. No evidence directly links the opposition to this but it is expected that if the destructions lead to fuel scarcity that the opposition may capitalize on it to stir up trouble for the government. Now my advice to the president is that orders should be issued that any one caught tampering with any PHCN installations any NNPC facility especially the ones related to fuel distribution should be shot at sight! In addition both military and civil defense officers and men should be deployed in all strategic installation with the order top shoot at site any one messing around with any of our installations! In addition it is suspected that some of those who bought the Generation and distribution arms of PHCN are sympathetic with the opposition and this should not be taken lightly any one of them investigated or observed to be in any way sabotaging FG’s effort to get power to Nigerians for political reasons should be dealt with according to the law. My advice to the opposition is that they should work hard in a legal way to see if they can move out the president from Aso rock not in a way questionable and out rightly dubious. Even if the opposition should win we expect them not to tear down structures already built by the president but to build on those structures, period! What is more amongst Alh. Shehu Shagari , Gen. Buhari, General Babangida, Gen Abacha and Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar spanned almost twenty years of virtual uninterrupted rule of elements from the North and what did Nigerian and in particular the ordinary Northerner got out of that, other than the bogus city of Abuja and probably some few roads and bridges! But the substance of it, is how does the bogus city of Abuja impacted in the lives of the ordinary Northerner. The main stay of the economy of the North was agriculture and none of these Northern regimes did any thing that worth a hill of beans to ginger concrete agricultural growth in order to improve the lives of the ordinary Northerners instead the agric sector as well as the power sector, even the petroleum sector and rail were completely destroyed and buried by these leaders., but these were the main things that would have improved the lot of ordinary Northerner as well as other Nigerians. Within the last two and half years, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan had done more in the agric sector to improve the lot of the ordinary Northerner more than all these Northern leaders had done in nearly twenty years! That apart, the question for Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu is, if for any reason he succeeds in handing power over to the North, what next!? Well I hope he is not nursing the ambition and hope that he would order the Northerners around; if he hope for that then he must be suffering from amnesia because it meant he must have forgotten so soon what happened to his kins man, Chief Obafemi Awolowo after he used his hunger strategy to bring down the Igbos and then hope he was a bird to fly along with birds from the North, he was told to shut his mouth and that he remain a butterfly by one of the Northern who is now a retired General and a multi billionaire in Dollars. He was not just told, it is known that the General actually physically hit the economist hunger strategist across the face! Some people believe that the General is richer than some states in the North joined together! So Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu be aware some elements in the North wants power at all cost not because of those fancy things going on in your brain about building the country and you simply cannot control them once they are in the drivers seat! Besides Senator Bola Tinubu is not even in control of the entire South West, just barely five states and even at that, Lagos will still vote for Jonathan again! Yes and even some of the most of the remaining four states Jonathan will still win in some of them despite the noise and cacophony being raised by Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu because even a fool knows that Tinubu has no muscle what so ever to dictate to the Northerners once they are firmly fixed at the drivers seat and may I also remind Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu that out of about 54 years of the nation’s life span the North has been managing the country for well over 40 years leaving a paltry 15 years or there about for the whole of the south, I mean South East South south and South West! So what is in it for Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu to gain by returning power quickly to the North is it that, for the whole forty years they had done fantastically well for even Northerners let alone the whole country. President Goodluck Jonathan has simply struck the cord to move the whole country forward, Agriculture, and so long as he continues to improve on the foundation he has laid just few more years not only that our economy would improve the lives of ordinary Northerners would improve dramatically as well as that of other Nigerians this is a clear departure fro m ridiculous ‘visions’ many of our leaders use to bamboozle us. The power sector has been unbundled with stiffer supervision and investment power would not only be available for home but for our industries! After this any other person who is coming in would concentrate on consolidation.

Double Face of Northern elders

The Two Deceitful Faces of Northern Elders- We will Drag Gen. Ihejirika (Retired)to War Crime Court! Are Northern Elders the proverbial treacherous and dubious old man that would go into the bush and strike the evil drum, Gbam! Gbam!! Gbamgbamgbam!!! and still come out on the road and ask who is beating that evil drum just now!? Assessing the recent utterances of the Northern Elders one would seriously doubt on whose side the so called Northern Elders were and are right now. Though we may not be too surprised at the recent utterances of some elements in the North, whether it is Northern Elders or perhaps the youth Forum. You could recall that shortly before President Jonathan was elected President of the country for the First time, some Northern elements swore that they would make the nation ungovernable! Many of those Northern groups have not changed their stance till now and is it not likely that it is this same elements that have been and are still powering Boko Haram? Because the way Boko Haram behaves like a child sent to rob by his Dad you don’t need to look far why they act with impunity. Let us recall that apart from the bomb blasts here and there in the country by Boko Haram the main reason the military was called in was that in some North East states Boko Haram elements had seized some local government, e.g. in Borno; over twelve local governments were seized by Boko Haram elements as their enclave and actually hoisted their flag, putting road blocks and practically ejected all police officers in the affected local governments. This can’t be any other thing order than out right rebellion and that was why the military was called in; in the first place to put a check on this and to forestall further spread of such blatant disrespect to laws of the federation. Now it was not only Gen. Ihejirika of the Nigeria Army that planned and executed strategy to stop this stupid show of lawlessness, all other military chiefs were involved, why should the Northern Elders single Gen. Ihejirika out as their prime candidate for delivery to war crime court probably because he is from the South East extraction. But I want to remind the Northern elders that: 1) the war crime court is not a property of the North 2) with this kind of irresponsible statement they are clearly showing that they are deeply behind the activities of Boko Haram, so the rest of Nigerians should hold the Northern elders responsible for thousands of people killed by bombs planted by Boko harm and also for all properties, churches,Mosques, vehicle and private properties destroyed by Boko Haram bombs. If The Northern elders fail to retract the irresponsible threat to the former Chief of Army staff then for all time the rest of Nigerians would hold the Northern elders responsible of those colossal loss of lives and properties occasioned by the activities of the sect, Boko Haram. If this assertion is true it meant also the Northern elders were also guilty of treason for supporting elements of Boko Haram hoisting flags up in some local governments in Borno and should also be arrested for a proper trial! Now the other face of the Northern elders is while probably, remotely supporting Boko Haram for their notorious activities; turn back and accuse the presidency of not able to improve security in the country! At the same time the effort put in to improve the security , they are threatening to take the head of the army that helped to stem the spread of the damages caused by Boko Haram to War crime court! May I also ask the Northern elders if the limited operations of the military in the North East is war. Well it is clear that it is not war because if it is war I don’t think the Northern elders would have time to be talking about it the way they do. In that case since it is not war why should the Northern elders be talking of war crime court? -The display of two deceitful faces. I encourage the Northern elders to show more responsibility and stop their possible support of the dreaded group that is if that is what they are doing and allow peace to return. They probably don’t like the face of Jonathan but the Northern elders must be reminded that Jonathan on his own couldn’t have secured Aso rock by himself. Furthermore the call on Gen Ihejirika may also not only encourage Boke Haram to spil more blood, but also limits the ability of the new army chief and other military chiefs to carry out their tasks to ensure security of lives and properties in the North East in particular and the North in general as well as other parts of the country. If Nigeria is burnt where would be the Northern elders?

What is Really Wrong with His Excellency, Rotimi Amechi? I wouldn’t want to drag myself into the misunderstandings between Gov. Rotimi Amechi and the wife of the President. I took that to be something between Rotimi Amechi and the first lady and we don’t need to bug our heads about that. Now going to the main issue the only substances I can see between Amechi and the President of the nation could be categorized thus: a) Purported agreement between President Jonathan, the Governors forum and probably some power caucus in PDP. b) Possible Governor Rotimi Amechi’s personal ambition. Coming to (a) the facts are that there was either an agreement between President Jonathan and Governors forum headed then by Chibuike Amech and probably some power blocks in PDP or there was no agreement. Let’s take the first; there was an agreement for President Jonathan to go for only a term. To start with the constitution of Nigeria states that any Nigerian vying for the post of Presidency can only be elected into that office twice. The question is has President Jonathan been elected into the Presidency twice? The answer is capital no. Was President Jonathan’s stepping in to conclude President Yaradu’s tenor constructional? The answer once again is yes! So the question is where has President Jonathan gone wrong? The answer is that President Jonathan has not gone wrong anywhere as regard the issue being discussed. Secondly were Rotimi Amechi and probably Gen. Obasonjo and other pockets of power in PDP not aware that President Jonathan should complete the tenor of Late President Umaru Yardua and that President Jonathan just like any other Nigerian have the right to contest for the Post of the President twice? If Governor Amechi and others are aware of these why did they try to muscle President Jonathan to only go for one term therefore depriving him of his constitution guaranteed right? To look at the matter further the Nigeria governor’s forum headed then by Gov. Rotimi Amechi or any other of such forum has no backing of the law so at best it is an illegal organization more so when it is not registered by corporate affair commission. So how can it enter an agreement with President Jonathan even in violation of the Nigeria constitution! I have heard people say that if the president had signed an agreement with NGF and PDP caucus they should publish it for all to see. Even at that such an agreement would have been dead on arrival! It is just like where some individual had gathered in their room and reached an agreement to rob a bank for instance it is dead on arrival it is against the law and only place worthy of its habitation is the waste basket. As per the Nigeria Governors Forum the only reason the president is still keeping it is probably he has some use of it otherwise if it continues to heat up the polity on unconstitutional matter the President and the national assembly should proscribe it without any further delay. Now back to Gov. Amechi, if he does not have any hidden grudge against President Jonathan , the moment someone challenged Jonathan’s candidature for 2015 election and the court threw it out rightly that was when Rotime Amechi should have known was the grave of the purported agreement with President Jonathan! Looking at the matter further where is Gov. Amechi taking his antagonism of the president to? This is the first time someone of South South extraction is stepping into the elevated office, is Gov. Amechi saying he can’t read the body language of his south south people and is hoping to win over the south south against their own? I think that Gov. Amechi should have an appointment with his specialist Doctor if in his brain he hopes that the South South would follow an Amechi’s APC against a President of their own extraction. He may do all kinds of rally that he deems it but he is sure dialing the wrong button and should also think about the consequences of his actions when he eventually leaves office. He should also consider why he is being attacked, whether it is not connected with his crazy activities to deprive a son of the south south the Aso Rock instead of constantly fingering the President. I don’t think that if indeed the president wants Gov. Amechi dead with all the security formations at his command it would take him, the President, twenty four hours! So what Amechi is seeing is the outburst of the anger of the South South. Why must be Gov. Amechi that would galvanize forces against the President of South South extraction? Has Gov. Amechi also considered the possible consequences of throwing out President Jonathan out of office unceremoniously? The possibility that there may be serious resumption of hostilities by youths from that area to disrupt the security situation of the country! If it is Gov. Amechi’s personal ambition to become a president or vice president, I don’t think he is old yet probably less than fifty he should exercise patience and not heat up the polity just because he wants to have a taste of Aso rock so soon. There are many of his age mates that would never be Governor and a number in his age bracket are even now looking for job! So Gov. Amechi should be content with what he already has and if it is the wish of God that Gov. Amechi would one day be the President of Nigeria so be it but until then!

SUGGESTIONS TO THE MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE

Eyes on Cow Rearing Revolution in Nigeria Estimates of the worth of the cow rearing industry are not readily available but the industry is believed to be worth at least 50 billion Naira. Though it is worth so much yet it has little to show by way of modernization, For example, its method of feeding the cows have remained the same for nearly 300 years now! That is not all the tradition has also not changed as regard adjustment to accommodate improved variety of cows that are readily available. The improved cow variety has among others, a shorter turn out time for maturity, better meat production as well as better milk production and higher disease resistance. Even where the farmers are aware of all these they are quite weary of the cost implication and how to bond the improved variety with the traditional stock. My recommendations: The government through the ministry of agriculture should buy off all traditional cows from the farmers and for each cow bought off two free improved cow variety should be given to the farmer. However, before this is done the ministry of agriculture must come up with a robust plan to resettle the cow farmers for one obvious reason, while the traditional cow are used to trekking several hundreds of kilometres grazing; the improved varieties are defiantly not cut out for this. My recommendation is that the ministry of agriculture should in the states that have the comparative advantage in cow production especially in the North of the country acquire several hundreds of hectares of land. The acquired piece of land is to be properly demarcated for allocation to each major cow farmer. Either a bore hole is provided for each segment or a major bore hole is provided to supply constant water for each of the segment. The water supplied by the bore hole should be adequate enough to irrigate a section of each segment not to grow crops but to produce grass supplements for the cattle. Though the major source of food for the cattle; would come mainly from chaff from crushed palm kernel mixed with other supplements or just the chaff alone. This food source should be provided free by the ministry of agriculture for appropriate length of time for farmers to adjust and get used to this new source of food. If this is not provided free; it would be very difficult to convince the cow farmers to stay in one place and bear cost of feeding the cows when they could easily use their traditional move-around method to feed their cows at no cost! So the free provision of cow feed is very vital to make this exercise to succeed among others. Apart from this the experts from the ministry of agriculture should include all standard facilities in each of the cattle ranch in line with international standard. Facilities are to be included to support primary and secondary school for thousands of ranch workers, wards and members of house hold of the ranchers. These clusters of cattle ranches prepared by the ministry of agriculture are to be give out to major cattle herders with at least five to ten years moratorium before repayment of the acquisition and improvement amounts begins. It is also expected that at least five years tax moratorium should e give to the major cattle ranchers just like it was give to GSM operators in Nigeria. Furthermore why cattle dealers move around a lot is because they want to reach their customers directly reducing cost inflations by middlemen, so the federal ministry of agriculture must liaise with state ministries of agriculture especially in the South of the country for some lands to be mapped out for cattle ranchers and prepared like the ranches in the North though much smaller in size to enable the cattle dealers to maintain some limited stocks to satisfy urgent needs of their local customers and abattoir. Result: Ø Cattle farmers would have moved away from the strenuous and risky traditional means of cattle rearing and put to an end the old age nomadic life style and all the challenges associated with such a life style. Ø Better and substantial increment in meat, hide and milk supply among others. Ø Bring to an all time end the challenges associated with the education of children, ward and workers of the traditional nomadic life style. Ø Both cattle dealers and government would earn a substantially increased amount as well as heavier contribution to the nation’s GDP in addition to several thousands of jobs or even hundreds of thousands of jobs that would be created where it is expected that the government would also position allied industries close to the several ranches as well as value added industries. Ø With this successfully implemented the government would have indirectly solved the needless waste of lives of Nigerians as a result of several clashes between the nomads and indigenes and also reduce the number of illegal weapons circulating throughout the nation as it is not news that herdsmen equip themselves with AK 47 rifles while herding their cattle and whenever they felt the need to defend themselves the AK 47 speaks but the question is what other things the AK 47 is used to do when the herdsmen are not having any treat from anyone? Probably the guns are hired out to robbers, and kidnappers at a fee! What is more most probably the cattle herds men may be one of the means that small arms are being distributed throughout the West African sub region considering the way the operate. If arms are strapped under the stomach of cattle in a group of 2000 cattle who would see them since most of the time the cattle herders pass through the forests and occasionally cross the roads for a brief moments! Ø This will also save thousands of tons of economic crops lost to cow grazing each year. Honorable Minister, sir I am sure you are concerned about the substantial outlay this and all other revolutionary measures would cost but I encourage you to consider this as a deserved investment on our farmers otherwise our citizens. Furthermore I encourage you sir to look at the end results of the investment; the face of agriculture in our land would have changed for all time and the result is greater agric contribution to the nation’s GDP perhaps several time what crude oil could ever do. In addition to these; several millions of jobs would be provided by agriculture directly as well as the several millions that would be created as a result of employments occasioned by establishment of several allied industries, bank branches, insurance branches private hospitals, transportation industry etc. In summary a robust economy that would trigger the much awaited industrial revolution in our country!

What is the hurry to put president Jonathan  into a speed-boat back to Bayelse For?- cheap political gain or selfishness?

Compatriots, we Nigerians elected president Jonathan into the Aso Rock. For the first since independence, an extract from one of the minorities  is elected into the elevated office. What does this mean? It means there is hope for other minorities scattered all over the country. However, some elements in a section of the country tried all they could to prevent this; when they failed they and their supporters swore to make the country ungovernable! That is how the political and highly militarized Boko Haram emerged and ever since he stepped into office, the President had no breathing space; he has tried the carrot and stick method to bring the insurgent to an end, the insurgent fueled by the same interested Northern elements refused the president’s gesture, then carrot alone was even tied and of cause insurgents rebuffed the president until the president and the national assemble went for total stick with an open window for a possible carrot, which has significantly reduced the ability of Boko Haram to deliver death, anguish and suffering with impunity to fellow citizens. Yet the opposition APC instead of  standing behind President Jonathan decided to turn such a national emergency into a political weapon. It is probably only in Nigeria you would see such irresponsible opposition stance. However, my assessment of President Jonathan’s economic agenda is that for years , this is probably the first time  a serious scientific approach is being brought to bear in vital sectors: Let’s have a look; the banking and financial sectors have completely stabilized even, foreign observers have testify to this. The stock market has once more bounced back with market capitalization in excess of 13 trillion Naira and inflation for a number of years has remained within a single digit. 2) Nigeria has become a serious exporter of cement as well as cassava and cassava has seriously displaced wheat as major material for bread and has saved Nigeria perhaps several billions of Naira often spent on wheat importation from the US. 3) The power sector hitherto was what the all powerful Nigeria godfathers, whether they are godfathers in PDP or APC or any other political parties  have been using as pipe hose to fill their pockets just like the refineries. The do-or-die man alone pissed away $16 billion into NEPA but it is now President Jonathan that has solved the albatross of unbundling PHCN and has successfully privatized the hydra head called PHCN and commissioned a significant number of strategic power projects and an increasing number of places are having seriously improved power supply for instance where I live I can say that for the past seven months we have been having on the average of about 14 to 16 hours of power supply per day. Though considering the unfolding scenario politically the President should put his intelligent officers to watch the people that the units of PHCN were sold to some of them as of now may be sympathetic to the opposition and would most likely sabotage all the efforts of the President on power sector by deliberately not distributing available power or even vandalism in order to poison the minds off the citizens against the president so that the opposition would be sitting it as what they would fix once they come to power! This sort of thing has happened before, when a particular king pin in one of the states in the North West cleared depositors’ money in his bank just to prevent his anointed governor godson from going for a second term! 4) The agric sector is steadily and consistently being unbundled by the current honorable minister of agriculture and hopefully if he continues the way he is going I am confident that within the next five years agriculture alone may yield as much as $25 billion per year. This is money directly in the pockets of our farmer not to talk of huge employment opportunities that would be created as a result of establishment of allied industries. 5) The rail track between Lagos to Kano has been operational since the last two years and Port Harcourt to Maiduguri is almost completed. All these are real tangible progress and I don’t see any other way the opposition party could  revive the economy better than these.

The quest of some elements in the North to return urgently to power though understandable, however it is doubtful what magic they could perform outside the strategy the President is following now. Though no doubt, if a Northerner  gets into Aso Rock, it is obvious elements in Boko Haram would abandon its quest to make the country ungovernable since by then once more another northerner is back to Aso rock; by then if the opposition is responsible for catapulting the northerner into office would claim it has the magic wand on insecurity! However if this is what APC opposition is hoping to cash in on, it should tread cautiously, because it needs to factor in  the would-be perception of the South south and other minorities as well as the entire Niger Delta  militancy if peradventure, the President of their extraction is being muscled out of office in order word denied of a second term ticket in Aso Rock. Would they not perceive it that, The President from their extraction is being denied the office of the president for a second term simply because he is from the minority section. Does APC or any other opposition not see that the downing of weapons by Boko Haram may automatically be dusting of weapon by Niger Delta militants perhaps this time around greatly enlarged in number!? Don’t make any mistake about it this time around with a more ruinous effect on the nation and its tethering economy when compared to the earlier struggles by the youth from that geo-polity and who knows may even be joined by possible sympathizers. My warning to APC or any other opposition party in hurry to bundle President Jonathan home by all means is summed up in this Igbo proverb; ‘Akwuluoto gwujie ji etukwuru ala were gwuputa odu ya!’ If you stand up and hurriedly attempt to dig out your yam and accidently the tail tip of the yam severs off and trapped in the earth you won’t have any choice than to kneel down  spent more time to did it out! In fact if we allow common sense to prevail, it is in the best interest of Nigerians that President Jonathan completes and if he wins completes his rightful second term in office. Compatriots I am no PDP man nor APC or any political party for that matter but I really feel that the President so far, despite the huge challenged created by desperate politicians and interests have made the necessary right moves to reposition the Nigeria economy and the least we should do is to give him the chance to bring his activities to some form of conclusion.
